CITY ANNOUNCES FIRST
PERCENT FOR ART PROJECT
AT THE NEW FIRE STATION

The City of Portsmouth is seeking an artist, or team of artists to design, build and install a work(s) of art at the new fire station on Lafayette Road.  The qualifications package is due January 22, 2010. The following link to the City of Portsmouth's Purchasing Request page explains Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and the application process in detail http://www.cityofportsmouth.com/finance/purchasing.htm.  The selection process will occur in two phases (this RFQ is the first phase of the process):

1. a selection panel of art professionals, fire department representatives, and community members will review all applications and select up to four (4) finalists;

2. each finalist will be awarded $250 to develop a preliminary design for their proposed work (including a two-dimensional graphic representation). The panel will interview the finalists and then make a recommendation to the Portsmouth Fire Commission who will then make the final choice.
